Laying, with glue or dry, the new floor on top of the old flooring, without previously demolishing the latter, saves on costs and on the execution time of the renovation, and is in general a cleaner installation because it produces less rubble and less dirty in the house.

The thin porcelain stoneware floor is certainly the most resistant and suitable product for any room in the house, given the solidity that guarantees high resistance to shocks, scratches and humidity, even in the slim 3 mm or 5 mm version.

When is it possible to use the alternative of PVC or SPC tiles?

For overlapping installation, it is also possible to choose for PVC floors, perfect when the project needs are cost-effectiveness and ease of installation. PVC floors They are available in two dry laying solutions: adhesive laying and floating interlocking laying.

A very functional alternative is represented by SPC floors or with a mixed composition of polymers and stone dust. These floors have some excellent performance characteristics, as well as a nice and varied appearance. The SCP tiles are extremely rigid and, on the back, a mat is already applied: they are therefore ready to be laid, even when the substrate is not perfect.

Ultra-thin porcelain stoneware tiles: thicknesses and sizes

The thickness of the thin stoneware tiles ranges from 5 mm to 6.5 mm where traditional tiles have a thickness that varies between 8 and 10 mm.

The large formats (eg: [120 × 120], [120 × 260], [120 × 320]) have a particularly large surface; if they were made with a normal thickness, the weight of the tile would be so high as to make it difficult to lay it on the existing floor: however, for the same reasons they are more fragile and complex to handle.
